Pre-Pesach Happenings
Despite the fact that this week was a short one due to Pesach vacation beginning on Monday night, it was nonetheless full of learning and preparing for Pesach. Midreshets annual Pesach 'seder' took place on Sunday afternoon. As per Midreshet tradition, many of the students came to the seder dressed up in various Pesach themes...we had the korban pesach present at our seder, as well as a pyramid (a combined effort by 6 students!), a bottle of Bartenura wine, and the plague of frogs...Those were just some of the themes that the students chose in order to enhance the Midmo seder experience. The event began with a quiz on the Halachot of Pesach, and the 4 winners each won a sefer on Pesach, followed by the students rotating in 6 groups, each group hearing 10 minutes about one aspect of the seder by a teacher. The 6 topics that the students learnt more in depth were Kadesh, Karpas, Matzah, Maror, Korech and Kos Eliyahu HaNavi. Following the 6 station Pesach marathon, we then had a charoset making contest which was quite 'leibidik'. Once that ended, Rena Coren led a beautiful 'Hallel-Nirtza' kumzits with the students complete with guitar, bongo drums and all sorts of other small instruments. Later that evening, we had a first ever Matza baking in Midreshet! That night, Rav Adi Krohn, Rav Aharon Wexler and Rav Ezra Starr taught each of their classes the very specific halachot of Matza Baking, and then got to work each group baking their Matzot...and watching the clocks very carefully so as not to allow 18 minutes in the oven to go by....by the end of the evening each student had their own set of Matzot that were 100% Kosher for Pesach! The plan was for them to bring it to wherever they were making Seder this year...but we saw a bunch of girls who snuck some that night becaue they couldnt wait to taste it!
It's a whole lot quieter around Midreshet these days, with some of our students on the Heritage tour in Poland with Vicky, Bracha Krohn and Lani madricha, some of our students vacationing in Israel, and some of them back home. We miss you, and wish you and your families as well as all of our alumnae and their families a very happy and healthy Pesach!
