Tree Triming with JNF
Their fun continued later that same week, when the students once again loaded the bus together with Rav Ezra and his 6 year old son Kobi, Rav Eitan, Neima, Fagie, and Malka to the JNF forest near Mateh- in the Bet Shemesh region.
Ilan, the tour guide explained to the girls that planting trees is a very popular activity in Israel. The challenge becomes the job of taking care of the trees, which is traditionally less popular than the planting.. The Midreshet students, armed with saws ands all sorts of other tools, spent the next few hours in the forest pruning the trees, and cutting down the dead branches. They had a fabulous time doing such a fun job together that is also very important for the future of Israels trees. After that, they embarked on a tiyul down Burma Road, overlooking highway number 1 so the students could see how Jerusalem was besieged during the War of Independence. It was a fabulous day, to be out in the fresh air, helping Jerusalems forests and seeing from up close the history of Jerusalem.
