Yom Iyun on Tzniut. This year the Yom Iyun began with the chance for the girls to explore the sources on Tzniut in small groups led by teachers. After that we provided three different activities that would explore the concept of Tzniut in three different ways. Together with Devorah Starr, the girls looked at magazines to understand how women are stereotypically portrayed in the media. Tzippy Morris, a Giyyoret (convert) living in Efrat, joined us, shared her story and reflected on the universality of modesty. Bracha Krohn and the Rakazot read articles with the girls that focused on the importance of modesty.  We also had a tzniut panel that gave the girls the opportunity to ask questions about tzniut to teachers, guests and even one of our Shana Bet students.

The highlight of the day was a very special shiur! We were joined by Rav Herschel Shachter, Rosh Yeshiva and Rosh Kollel at Yeshiva University, for a shiur on “Tzniut in Avodat Hashem.”  It was a special privilege to have Rav Shachter give a shiur in our Beit Medrash and the girls were inspired by his vast Torah knowledge. The day ended with a very exciting activity -- our first tzniut fashion show! The girls were divided into groups and given some basic materials and a type of outfit to create. They had to design an outfit that was both tzanu'a and fashionable. Once the outfits were created, everyone came together for a fashion show, followed by frozen yogurt, a small treat at the end of a great day.
