Tiyyul to Eilat and the Negav

It has been a really exciting time here at Midreshet! The day after Sukkot, the girls were back for an exciting and inspiring Yom Iyyun dedicated to Tefilah. The day focused on our connection with Hashem and how Tefilah is an expression of that relationship. The focus on Tefilah continued the very next day, when we went left for the annual tiyyul to the Negev and Eilat. One of the new features of the Tiyyul was a short daily shiur. In those shiurim, we continued to focus on Tefilah, with the added appreciation that came from seeing and experiencing the beauty of Hashem’s Earth. In the tiyyulim led by famous Midreshet tour guide Shaika, the girls challenged themselves to climb mountains and descend steep cliffs. The tiyyul also gave the girls a chance to spend time with teachers and staff members.

On the first day, we visited the grave of Ben Gurion and his wife Paula and then hiked Nachal Tzin. The day was capped with Minchah overlooking Mitzpe Ramon. The next day, although a “sharav” (desert heart wave) hit Israel, the girls were able to conquer the very challenging Har Shlomo or the "easier" option of Ein Netafim. Meanwhile, Shana Bet had a chance to hang with Vicky at the aquarium and on the separate beach. After all that work (especially Shana Bet), everyone enjoyed a boat ride with music and dancing. The highlight of the final day was the water sports of Eilat. Girls went swimming, banana-boating, kayaking, and some even went parasailing. The amazing Tiyyul ended on a high with dinner and a beautiful kumzitz in Park Sapir. The Eilat tiyyul was great and the girls are still talking about the highlights.
