Tu Bi-Shvat Midreshet Style!
Sunday night, Leil Tu Bi-Shvat, we held our annual “Tu Bi-shvat Seder,” hosted by Michal Porat-Zibman. There were lots of Divrei Torah, singing and dancing while we munched on dried fruit (and learned how to check for bugs), drank pomegranate juice and got the opportunity to make lots of Brachot. Tu Bi-Shvat day turned out warm and sunny, perfect tiyyul weather, so we headed out to Kfar Etzion to see the movie about the soldiers who helped fight for Gush Etzion and then to Netiv Avot, an outpost where we heard from Chagit about the importance of settling and building up Eretz Yisrael. To get to our lunch destination, we took the ancient path called Derech Ha-Avot, the path on which Avraham is said to have taken Yitzchak to the Akedah. Walking in the footsteps of our Avot is what living in Israel is all about!!! We ended the day by visiting the Herodion, where Herod's ancient palace once stood in all its glory.
