Tiyyul Tanach!!
On Thursday, we set out our “Tiyyul Tanach"! With our Tanachim we retraced the entry of our ancestors into Eretz Yisrael at the time of Yehoshua, as they completed the journey home after centuries of slavery. With our very own Tanach teachers, Dr. Yael Ziegler and Malka Hubscher, we visited Mitzpe Yericho, where we enjoyed a stunning view of the city of Yericho and the Jordan River. Seeing the actual topography of the land, the location of the ancient city, and its proximity to the Jordan River, we watched the first few perakim of Sefer Yehoshua – the entry into the Land of Israel and the conquest of Yericho – truly come to life before our eyes!
We then made our way to the city of Ai, the second battle the Jews fought in Eretz Yisrael. We concluded our day in Shilo, where we were able to see the exact location where the Mishkan once stood and had the unique opportunity to daven Mincha right at the spot of the former Kodesh Ha-Kodashim (Holy of Holies)! Seeing the stories of Tanach really come alive in Eretz Yisrael made a very strong and lasting impression on our students. This is where it all happened!
